Smoke Alarm for Deaf or Hard of Hearing

When the smoke alarm detects a fire source, it emits an audio alert. At the same time, a signal is sent to the control panel - and in turn to the vibration pad. The control panel itself emits a visual alert in the form of a strobe light, while the vibration pad, which can be placed under your pillow or mattress, produces strong vibrations suitable for waking sleepers.

The whole circuit wiring is monitored to ensure that if any element is incorrectly connected, a warning strobe will flash and the pad will vibrate. The circuit is run by mains electricity, but has a battery back up should the mains power fail - coloured LED indicators show the current power status (green indicated mains power, red indicates battery). In the event of a mains failure the rechargeable battery in the control panel is capable of powering the total system, including up to 12 interconnected smoke alarms for one week , followed by at least four minutes alarm.
